Similarity and difference
This role play activity allows students to explore migration to Britain from the 16th to the 20th centuries. They adopt the roles of immigrants from six refugee groups (Huguenot, Irish, Russian Jewish, Ugandan Asian, Polish and Vietnamese) and explore the similarities and differences in their motivations for migrating to and their experiences in Britain. The role cards could be adapted for small group or whole class use. A table to record findings is included. This would work for KS3 students or as an introduction for KS4 students studying Migration thematic studies at GCSE.
